Decin
Decin is the city of Usti nad Labem province on the river Labe (Elbe) in the north of the Czech Republic, near the border with Germany. Decín’s average height above sea level is only 135 meters, making it the lowest town of the Czech Republic. Decin lies on an important railway line between Germany and the Czech Republic (Prague - Dresden - Berlin) and is one of the principal cities of the so-called Czech Switzerland - a picturesque area in the north.
The Decin castle built in the spirit of classicism stands in the center of the city, above the confluence of the Elbe and Ploucnice. Here you can see, for example, private apartments of Count Thun, the Blue Hall with a wall painting or the Tower room overlooking the city.
For tourists many observation towers are prepared in the city, from which you can admire the beautiful scenery. Particularly successful among them is an impressive stone tower Decinsky Sneznik. This tower is considered to be the oldest building of this type.
With its picturesque surroundings Decin offers ideal conditions for recreation and sport.
